School Governors
What is the local governing body?
Every aspect of the life and conduct of the school is overseen by the Governors. The Local Governing Body (LGB) has a general responsibility for the effective management of the school. This includes establishing, with the Headteacher, the aims and policies of the school, ensuring the National Curriculum is provided, ensuring Religious Education is provided, the setting and control of the school budget and supporting and appointing the Headteacher and other staff.
The LGB is made up of representatives of the local church, elected parent members and staff representative members. As well as attending formal meetings the Governors spend much time in school meeting and working with staff and children. They are always pleased and ready to talk to parents.
Governors do need to be able to dedicate some time to their role, typically two evening governing body meetings a term, as well as being prepared to serve on at least one of the governing body's committees. We provide a training programme to help and support governors in learning about their role and responsibilities. If you would like to find out more about being a school governor please email office@thriplow.cambs.sch.uk.
The annual governance statement is a document which explains the processes and procedures in place to enable the school to carry out its functions effectively. This will be available to download shortly.
